My name is Tekesha Brinson. I’ve known Robert Ricks for 6 years. My daughter Kasijana Britt began working with him in the 3rd grade at 45 school. She was cast in his play School to Prison Pipeline. She learned how to emotionally express herself and how to slow down and pronounce words. Before joining MIB&G, she was a quiet and shy little girl who stuttered horribly and couldn’t pronounce many words. Once she joined the program, she began joining in class discussions, and getting better grades. She started looking forward to coming to the program after school and on Saturday mornings. She let me know that he was more than just a mentor, but more like a father figure to her. From that point on, I began working more closely with the program. I soon after enrolled my other 2 daughters into the program. They too began looking forward to programming and seeing Mr. Ricks because he was someone they started to look up to. For all 3 of my girls, he was the best thing to happen in their life because their father constantly chooses drinking over spending quality time. I love how Robert makes such a powerful impact on youth across the board and especially mine. I believe he is doing an amazing job by helping to keep the youth off the streets because the streets don’t love no one. I must say that we have all grown to love us some Mr. Robert Ricks.
